product description

Protect Your Stud Holes with Closing Plugs

Stud blanks or closing plugs can be used as blind studs until the permanent use of the anti-skid studs, or during the stud-free time when you're not using larger grip studs in case of our threaded straight bar shoes, which are suitable for regular stud changes.

Closing plugs keep the thread clean. This makes it easier to screw in the stud and ensures the stability of the threaded insert. If dirt is repeatedly pushed into the threaded hole, it can lead to unwanted pressure being exerted on the hoof.

We offer three types of closing plugs:

  • Metal Closure Plugs — suitable for M8, M10, M12 and M14 stud holes of all our threaded composite horseshoes
  • Plastic Closure Plugs, Type 1
    • to protect the stud holes in steel horseshoes; thread size 3/8 inch, M10 and M12
    • to save the stud holes in composite horseshoes with threaded inserts fixated in the synthetic bar; thread size M8, M10 and M12
  • Plastic Closure Plugs, Type 2
    • suitable to protect the threads of our composite straight bar shoes; thread size M8, M10, M12 and M14
    • composite straight bar shoes: Jumper (4 stud holes), Heavy Duty Shoe Traction* (4 stud holes), clipped and threaded open-toed horseshoe* (2 stud holes)
      * The product is currently available in Canada by request only. Please reach out to us for further details.

All of our closing plugs, both in metal and plastic versions, are designed for easy application and offer distinct benefits. If the specific plug version you are seeking to protect the threards of your horseshoe is not currently available in our range, please do not hesitate to contact us.

For detailed information on our closing plugs and their application, please refer to our detailed product description.
