Anti-Skid Products for Additional Adhesion
Thanks to their material and their profiled surface, our composite horseshoes are well protected against slipping. However, there are situations in which additional anti-slide protection is necessary — in case of snow and ice, but also on muddy or pebbly tracks or during rapid changes of direction. There are a number of anti-skid options for your horse, depending on the intended use and the horse shoe model used.
The small quick studs (spikes) are used as a preliminary stage to larger studs — just like tungsten carbide pins in conventional horseshoes. You can easily screw them into the synthetic material of the composite horseshoe with a suitable adapter. Depending on the horseshoe model, you can use up to eight quick studs per horseshoe.
If spikes are not enough to protect the hoof from slipping, we recommend our small screw studs (4mm or 6mm). They are suitable for all our horseshoe models with their screw threads inserted directly into the synthetic material.
If you don't only need anti-skid protection but want to convert propulsion to speed (for show jumping or logging wood, for example), you need larger screw studs. For those cases, there are horsehoe models with thread inserts that are firmly fixated in the (ring-shaped, straight bar) metal inlay. Thanks to the additional stabilization, the thread inserts cannot be levered out of their position even during extreme strain; they are therefore suitable for studs of 6mm/8mm/12mm/14mm.
If you want to change studs regularly (in order to reduce the risk of injury in the herd, for example), we recommend fitting "placeholders" (stud blanks or rubber plugs) and the proper tools.
