Closing Plugs for Stud Holes in Metal Horseshoes and Composite Shoes
go to the online shopClosing Plugs - Seal and Protect the Threaded Holes in Horseshoes
We offer various horseshoe models with threaded holes for stud application. These models can be devided in two categories - those with threaded holes fixated inside the synthethic material and those where the stud holes are integrated inside the metal core. All models with stud holes securely anchored in the metal core are suitable for regular stud changes. The models in which the threaded insert is fixed in plastic are not suitable for regular stud changes.
However, for all threaded horseshoes, it is essential to seal the stud holes with a placeholder (a so-called closure plug) during times without studs. This is done to protect the threaded hole from excessive dirt. This helps to maintain the stability of the shoe in the area of the threaded inserts to prevent unwanted pressure on the hoof.

Plastic and Metal Closure Plugs to Seal the Stud Holes in Horseshoes – Fotos
The closure plugs seal the stud hole, serving as blank studs during periods without traction enhancing studs and protecting the thread from excessive dirt.
Up until now, we have packaged the plastic closure plugs in sets of 100. However, we will gradually transition to packages of 20 pieces. Please refer to the product description for precise information.
Most of our plastic closing plugs do not come individually but are connected by a thin plastic strip; the individual closing plugs can be easily separated by hand or with scissors.
Our closing plugs were originally designed to seal the stud holes in steel horseshoes.
The closing plugs can be pressed by hand into the clean threaded hole of the horseshoe. They are used to keep the stud holes of horseshoes filled and clean when the studs are removed.
To remove the closing plugs, you can use a pointed object such as needle-nose pliers or a slotted screwdriver.
The countersink hex head metal closure plugs in a threaded fitting are available in 4 sizes. They are often referred to as stud blanks as they do not protrude oustide of the horseshoe.
The hex head metal closure plugs can be screwed into the clean threaded hole using an appropriate screwdriver bit.
Our stud hole cleaners, designed for stud replacement, assist in cleaning the stud hole if necessary.
