Steel Shoes

Barefoot, hoof boots, steel shoes, composites or urethane horseshoes — there are many hoof protection options, and each has its place. We are not strict advocates of any one alternative, because our priority is finding the best solution for your (client's) horse together with you.

That’s why we make a point of thinking outside the box: in addition to our horseshoes and the matching accessories, we also offer a selection of products for use with conventional steel shoes.

Improved Grip for Steel Shoes

A hole is being drilled into a steel shoe using a metal drill bit to insert the stud afterwards.
The farrier uses a hammer to drive a stud into the steel shoe.
A steel shoe lies on a stone floor. It has two stud holes, one of which is sealed with a blue plug. Additional 3/8-inch plugs lie next to the shoe.

Grip is an important topic for every horse — regardless of the type of hoof protection it wears. That’s why we offer something for conventional steel shoes as well: our drive-in studs , also known as Speedies, along with protective closure plugs .

The farrier nails a steel shoe with a shock-absorbing insole with integrated frog support onto the hoof while wearing WonderGrip® cut-resistant gloves.

Many horses benefit from shock absorption and integrated frog support provided by our horseshoes. That’s why we developed our Protective Insoles — shock-absorbing insoles with built-in frog support for use with steel or alu shoes. Available with open or closed soles, they are highly versatile.
