Composite Horseshoe With Closed Sole for Padding Material
Most of our composite horseshoes feature an open sole design, allowing the frog and hoof sole to breathe naturally. For the majority of horses, this is an excellent solution — though, as always, there are exceptions.
For horses with very sensitive soles or those that require cushioning due to a medical condition, we recommend our horseshoes with a closed sole. This model can be used with both impression material and silicone or urethane padding material, while still offering all the proven benefits of composite horseshoes for healthy hooves.
In addition to sole protection and the use of a pad material, closed sole horseshoes are especially useful during the winter season. Our open sole horseshoes include an integrated plastic rim that works much like Snowgrip® in traditional horseshoes, helping to prevent snow and mud from building up under the hoof. However, depending on the hoof shape and snow conditions, this may not always be sufficient. In such cases, we recommend closing the sole area of the horseshoe — either with the Hoof Sole Protector or by choosing this specific model.
Whether you are a farrier or a horse owner: To prevent injuries to both humans and horses, we strongly recommend reading and following our safety instructions before using our products.
