product description

Urethane Wedge Plates — Providing 2.5 Degrees of Heel Lift to Adjust the Horse's Hoof Angle

Corrective shoeing, which involves altering the hoof angle, is a highly specialized area that requires expertise from the farrier, and it is advisable to involve the veterinarian. With our urethane wedge plate, we aim to support you in this particular area of adjusting the hoof angle, providing you with a tailored product for your wedge shoe. A horseshoe with a synthetic wedge plate is used whenever a change of the hoof angle, combined with perfect shock absorbance, is called for. Our wedge plates are the ideal supplement to our urethane horseshoes for certain therapeutic indications.

A wedge provides 2.5 degrees of heel lift. If necessary, it is possible to weld two wedges together and then insert them into the horseshoe; the hoof angle will then change by 5.0 degrees. Our wedge plates are available in a round, oval, and STS shape. There is a corresponding size of the wedge plate for each horseshoe size.

When using our urethane wedges, there are several crucial aspects that must be taken into consideration. Especially when using wedges, it is important to consider the situation comprehensively and take into account all possible effects of the wedge. The use and duration of a wedge shoe should always be carefully considered. Please take a moment to read the detailed product description of our wedges.

Please note that not only the horseshoe but also the wedge must be appropriately tailored to fit the hoof.

Whether you are a farrier or a horse owner: In order to avoid injuries to humans and horses, it is important that you read and follow our Safety Advice when using our products. Our wedge plates are not intended to diagnose or cure any medical condition. Corrective shoeing to change the hoof angle requires specialized expertise from the farrier on-site.

We are here to assist you with advice, but we would like to emphasize that no conversation can replace the on-site assessment of the horse and its individual situation.
